The day started with a good breakfast in the garden of the family Liebentritt: I had a great stay there. I have heard some interesting stories and some important life lessons! ;-)
When it is very 'gezellig' I usually don't leave the time I intended, but I guess I didn't really mattered since the weather (read headwind) stayed the same. I started 10:10, finding my route to the Danube quite easily. As I had expected there was quite some wind, but to my surprise I was able to push and even drive and average of more than 21 km/h during the first 50km. :) The first part was very nice, driving between the hills.
After 70km I made a lunch stop to eat my sandwiches, sitting on a bench with some turkey running around at the other side of the road. When I drove away I noticed that my kilometer counter was not working: it had reset itself! NOOOOOO! No I have to do it all over again... :-(
I was quite pissed at technique (it should have just worked) or maybe I pressed the reset button, I don't know. It also cost me a lot of energy, since usually I stay mad until it is fixed, but that was not going to happen. This also means there won't be a 2000km-celebration point :'(
Also the wind was blowing harder, or maybe it just felt like it did. The last part of the day was not so much fun. It was however exiting: I saw snake skin lying on the road, but when it moved I realized it was a living snake! Wow! You don’t see them often!
25km before I reached my destination I stopped to eat something: I saw civapcici on the menu! That's great! But when they were served in less than 10 minutes I thought differently. They didn't taste very good, definitely not as good as those German Schnitzels! :)
In Vienna I found my way quite easily. The city is enormous, and quite impressive with all its old buildings and wide streets. Dusans girlfriend opened the door for me, so I was surprised at first, but then she explained. He (they) was actually building a table using the top of a piano. Both are nice people: I heared some nice stories and we had interesting conversations and discussions. I love couchsurfing! :)
Tomorrow my last day in Austria, then the real adventure begins: Hungary! :-O
