This was one of the days I was not looking forward to: headwind and a large amount of rain were predicted! In the end it wasn't so bad, no rain! :-)
The day started good: Dušan made me a nice breakfast (baked eggs with toast), it tasted good. Thanks! :-) After some nice conversation with both Dušan and his girlfriend, I started my trip around 10 in the morning.
It took me about 45 minutes to get to he outskirts of Vienna, I wasn't too hard to find my way. 30 km from my starting point the sky started to get dark; the clouds were dark and wind was blowing hard (wrong direction again...). Luckily the heavy rainfall was a few km to the south of me, so I didn't get wet! :-) I only encountered some drops of rain, and a lot of wind. The threat of rain was the only thing that worried me, but I was happy afterwards.
During the trip I drove through the fields were grapes and other fruit was grown. Quite nice. I also had some gravel roads, which were not so nice, but helped me to reduce the number of km's. At some point I was even driving at a shooting range: but luckily it was closed and nobody got hurt ;)
In the afternoon (35km from my destination) I stopped to eat: a nice 'Schnitzel mit Pommes'! A Norwegian family was also eating there, they were cycling from Austria to Croatia, that's also quite a journey!
I crossed the Hungarian border 20km after I had eaten: Yeah! A new country! And what a country: the roads were deserted and stretched as far as the eye could see. Luckily I only had to drive 16km from the border to my destination.
When I came in Kapuvár, I found my sleeping place (pension) easily. After I had checked-in and showered I went to the supermarket which was open (!), something I didn't expected since al shops in Austria were closed (even in Vienna). After that I had some diner and went to chill in my (warm) room. It's quite hot!
Tomorrow and the day after will be the most difficult stages of the cycle tour: they are long, contain mountains, non-perfect roads (also traffic) and bad weather is predicted. I hope I'll survive! :-)
