I woke up around 08:30. Karin (girlfriend of Stefan) made me a nice breakfast: thanks! :) At 10:00 I left Linz.
After finding my way to the Danube, I was annoyed by the fact wind was blowing in the wrong direction (just as yesterday). 'Go away stupid wind!' was one of the thoughts going through my head, but it didn't change anything. 30 kilometer underway my luck turned around: the wind had changed to my advantage! :D With the flat countryside and the Danube next to me, it was easy to average about 24km/h. Also this day I had some beautiful landscapes surrounding me, so I was quite happy! :)
In the afternoon I stopped to eat some lunch (pomes frittes) when two middle aged ladies from the Netherlands (NL) sat next to me. The told me they also cycled from the NL (Nijmegen) up to here, they were heading for Vienna. They were also from a rowing club, an (burger) association in Zwolle.
The last 30 km's were good to drive, when suddenly (last 15 km) a strong head wind came up. Not cool! Luckily I was almost there, but I hope the weather for the commig days stays OK :)
17:00 I arrived in Melk, a village with a beautiful city center (alt stad).
The father of couchsurfer Simon, Klaus hosted me. They live in a nice house in Melk, not far from the center. After a shower we went to the city, were some sort of village fest took place; all very nice! We tasted some of the food and walked around, it was really nice. Tomorrow a longer distance; 120km to Vienna!
