The day started in a empty room, Kristin already left for work, so I had the place to myself. (Thanks for not waking me :) After eating breakfast (toast), I left around 10h.
The first 30km's were though. The wind was blowing quite hard: I drove about 17km/h average, which is quite slow when the road is flat. Also my bike was packed to the maximum since I did some food shopping yesterday.
After a while things were getting better, more trees and less wind. Also I achieved a nice achievement today: I hit the 1000 km on my kilometer-counter (see video, day 9). I was happy, but I'm of course not there jet, just half way.
When I reached Vilshofen a.d. Danube, I saw an airstrip (local airfield), so I wanted to see if I could get closer. No 'verboten zugang' signs, so I got to the air strip and made some photos (for my 'brother in flight' ;). When I left I did saw a sign (oops), so I left quickly! :p
In the afternoon I wanted to eat something, but strangely many terraces were closed (or no 'warme Küche'). So I asked some woman who was looking out here window. I didn't understand her a she didn't understand me, so she came out. This was my first encounter with a real 'assi': red shirt (Schumi F1 shirt actually) and hair straight with a 'matje' in the neck. Her child was trying to bend my front-luggage-carrier... The woman didn't say anything, just trying to tell me they way. Strange people in this world...
When I did found a place, I ordered my last German 'Wiener Art': a big plate with a nice salad for a small price! I could eat this every day! (I almost did, haha)
The last 10 km's rain started to fall, but I kept on going. But at the end 'the heaven felt out of the sky' (monsoon rain). Luckily I found a 'bushokje' and everything was OK :)
Passau is a beautiful city! :-) When I came there I made several pictures before going to my next couch: that of Peter. Actually he was not home, but he arranged his room mate Philipp too host me; thanks! :) We first had some diner (Bratwurst mit sauerkraut) and then went to the city! Because I had achieved my 1000 km mark today, I decided to drink a beer: "Prost!" After that we walked around in the city and on the University campus, all very nice! :D
