Relaxing day: the seventh day was a relaxing day; I only had to cycle 97km.
The day started good, Jochen en me went to the bakery to eat some breakfast. We sat there enjoying the morning: thanks for everything!
10:30 my journey started, starting with a climb into the Frankische hills ;) The weather was fine this day: 24 degrees and a very clouded sky, perfect for me :)
After 30km I first came to the Main-Donau channel: things were looking great! But a few km further a bridge (aqua-aquaduct) was closed, so things were looking less great. :( I had to navigate around it. Just as I was reading the map on my phone, a fly went into my eye!! An emergency stop followed, with a lot of tears, and luckily I could get it out. But my problems were not over jet, I still had to get out of the bush somewhere near Nürnberg (see pictures day 7). Eventually I got on the right road again and everything was OK! :-)
The second time I got along the Main-Donau channel I could follow it to the end: it was a long and lonely road with no villages, just forest and hills. The wind was in the good direction, so I my average speed on this part was almost 25 km/h! :)
Around 17:30 I came in Berching, a medieval town with 'ringmauer' (old defense wall) which is one of only three (complete walls) in Germany. Franz opened the door and showed me his house were after we went somewhere to eat. Pretty much everything was closed that day, but luckily a biertgarten opened its gates so we could eat something (Schnitzel! ;). After that we went to see the ringmauer, it was really cool! When we wanted to go home, the sky fell from the haven: it rained extremely hard! So we went to the pub, to wait for the rain to stop. There I met an interesting guy (friend of Franz), who had some interesting stories to tell (probably not all true, but still funny :p). To conclude: it was a great day! :D
