The sixth day of my journey was a nice one: especially the beautiful sights along the Bavarian hills.
The day started around 8h, Christian and me went to the bakery to get some bread. After breakfast I left, knowing this was going to be the first day with some hills on my route. They are the parts were I take short cuts instead of the river route.
After 10km the climb (250m) started; it was hard work but with enough stops and drinking water it was OK. :) When I was up the hill the beautiful landscape came into sight: these are the hills I always saw from the car (A3) when I was small and now I'm cycling it, Yeah!! :D
What goes up, also goes down: a steep decent resulted in serious 'Autobahn geschwindigheit' on the bicycle. :-) I reached 50 km/h, which is very fast on a packed bike!
High speeds, and this journey in general, take a toll on my bike: my brakes are starting to ware down. Luckily I have spare with me, so a can replace them. The brakes I have on this bike are 6 years old so I'm not surprised.
When I reached Würzburg things got even better, I followed the Main again, and after 30km I went up in the hills. This was again a very pretty site: glowing hills, beautiful small villages, small rivers, and a train track with high speed ICE's on it: Ich liebe Bayern! :D
The final part was quite easy, going down hill slowly, with the wind in my back. So I decided to challenge myself: a steep final climb: 1,5km stretch with an average inclination of 10%! Smart move? No, not really. I couldn't get up there :p Even walking and pushing my bike was very hard (but this part was extremely steep).
When I came in Neustadt a.d. Aisch, Jochen opened and showed me his nice apartment! That evening we we to the town centre and ate there: I ordered my second Jager schnitzel of the day, and we sat there a few hours talking to everybody. Neustadt and Bavaria (oder Mittel Franken ;) are very nice, and I really enjoyed my stay there! :D
